S.W.A.P. or Sewing With a Plan is not a new idea, but it is a good one. The idea is to make a number of items that match, to make multiple possible outfits from the same basic items. In this case, I'm going to make my daughter four pants or skirts, six tops, and a sun hat. The six tops must match all four bottoms, and the sun hat must coordinate with everything. Here are the fabric swatches for Olga's summer wardrobe.
Top left, tropical floral cotton jersey; middle, pink stretch velour; right, hot pink tye dye cotton jersey.
Middle left, pink stretch baby wale corduroy; middle, tan stretch baby wale corduroy; right, striped challis.
Bottom left, teal twill. In addition, but not pictured, is a white cotton blend jersey.
