I took a couple of pictures of the pot holders I told you about the other day. They're so pretty! I made these all using Peaches & Creme cotton yarn. It's super cheap, comes in a bazillion (<- actual statistic) colors, and the best part? One 2 ounce ball of the ombre colors is EXACTLY enough to make one pot holder, with about 1 yard of yarn left over. Really, if that isn't a sign from the Goddess of Yarn that this is the most-perfect-pot-holder-in-the-wold, then I don't know what is.
I have a one pound cone of the color on the top of the stack. I really like it, it reminds me of a vegetable garden. I think the color is called "peppercorn."
Notice anything funny? The front and the back of the potholder look exactly the same. I don't know how to explain the stitch. It's worked double thick in the round, sort of like double knitting, but different. (I told you I didn't know how to explain it.) Instead of crocheting a rectangle, then folding it in half to sew up, you crochet into the current row and the row below at the same time. The whole potholder is 30 stitches wide, and tall enough to use up all the yarn, which will make it almost exactly square. I think I used a size H hook.
The original potholder has seen better days. It was part of a set given to me for my wedding shower, and I think the very best thing I got that day. :) They've always made me smile. This one, however, is following its twin into retirement. The other one would still be with us, but it caught on fire. We won't mention any names.

Pretty yarn!!I don't think I have seen that colorway in cotton yarn here. I like the potholders too..a freind just sent me two new nice thick ones that were crocheted and I just love them....what a great gift!

I would love to have more specific directions on how to crochet these. I have an old one that has seen better days, but I'm not savvy enough to figure out how to recreate it. I like yours better than the double-thick that the stitches are on the diagonal.

I LOVE these potholders and would give my right leg to have a copy of the pattern. I don't crochet all that much, but these would certainly be useful and improve my crochet skills. I hope you will be willing to share this pattern. Thanks.
